AcquiredSendwave is a mobile remittance app enabling instant, low-cost money transfers from the US, UK, Canada, and Europe to countries across East and West Africa and Asia. The company pioneered direct-to-mobile money transfers, allowing users to send money from their smartphone with minimal fees. Founded by Drew Durbin and Lincoln Quirk after meeting as freshman hallmates at Brown University, the company participated in Y Combinator's W12 batch. By 2020, Sendwave was facilitating billions of dollars in annual transfers. Acquired by WorldRemit (now Zepz) in February 2021 for approximately $500 million.
